Saturday Ride with the Gang (Bike Bites) from San Pedro to Nuvali (Santa Rosa) to Marcos twin Mansion, located at Barangay Casile, Cabuyao Laguna. The canlubang masion's structures is pretty amazing like what late President Ferdinand Marcos did here in the Philippines.
The Mansion
The Mansion
Behold the Canlubang Mansion, a.k.a. the Cabuyao Mansion, a.k.a. the Twin Mansion. So many sobriquets, but to Filipinos of a certain age, those old enough to remember the martial law era, it was and is simply the Marcos Mansion.
The history of the vast expanse of land known as the Canlubang estate on which this mansion stands is long and storied. This former encomienda of valuable forest and farmland stretched all the way north in the Binan area down south to Calamba, and used to be owned by the Spanish friars that ruled here by fiat. (Refer to the role of the friars in the confiscation of the Rizal family hacienda, for contrast.)
After various exchanges of hand, the bulk of this hacienda is now the Nuvali housing development and its “gillages” (neighboring subdivisions) and various commercial and industrial estates. After a bitter and protracted fight with the PCGG, this particular piece of prime real estate, all 25 hectares of it, was won back on a technicality by the Marcos heirs–Bongbong, Irene, and Imee.
The Marcos siblings were not even adults when they became owners of this mansion. They would have had plenty of space to expend their teenage angst: the mansion was actually composed of two wings, each a separate mansion in its own right.
